Is this online store real? Check before you pay.

A polished shop, a low price, or a five-star badge is not proof. Use this layered first check before you create an account, enter payment details, or move a purchase outside a marketplace.

Signals that deserve a pause

One warning sign can have an innocent explanation. Several mismatches together are a reason to stop and verify through a known route.

Unusually low price

Compare the product, model, shipping cost, and seller with independent retailers. A price that is far below the normal range can be used to rush a payment.

Copied identity

Check the actual domain, company name, address, contact route, and return policy. Logos, reviews, badges, and social profiles can be copied.

Payment outside the platform

Do not leave a marketplace payment flow because a seller promises a discount or says the platform is unavailable. You may lose the platform’s protection.

Pressure and secrecy

Countdowns, “last chance” messages, unexpected support chats, and requests to keep the transaction private reduce your time to verify.

Unclear delivery or refund

Read delivery times, return conditions, refund method, and seller contact details before ordering. Save a copy of the offer and policy.

Hard-to-recover payment

Be cautious when a seller insists on gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or another route that is difficult to reverse or dispute.

A safer five-minute shopping check

1. Separate the offer from the link

Do not use an unexpected ad, DM, email, or text link. Find the store or marketplace through a route you already know.

2. Check the seller independently

Search the seller and product name with words such as “complaint” or “scam.” Read multiple sources; do not rely on star ratings alone.

3. Verify the transaction rules

Confirm the total price, shipping, delivery estimate, returns, refund route, and whether payment stays inside the marketplace.

4. Choose a payment route carefully

Ask your bank or payment provider what protections and dispute steps apply. Never share a one-time code or bank login with a seller.

5. Save evidence before paying

Keep the product page, seller details, receipt, order number, delivery promise, and messages in case the transaction goes wrong.

Safe input rule: never paste passwords, payment details, verification codes, identity documents, or private addresses into a public checker.

Official shopping guidance

Use independent official guidance for the full context. These resources do not replace checking the specific seller or contacting your payment provider.

If you already paid or shared information

Stop engaging with the suspicious seller. Contact your bank or payment provider through a known official route, secure any exposed account, preserve records, and use the official reporting guide for your country or region.

Share the guide, not the private order

Send this public checklist to someone who is about to buy. Do not forward order numbers, payment details, verification codes, or private screenshots.

A discount is not worth losing control of the payment.

Slow down, verify the seller independently, and keep the transaction on a route you trust.
